Joint venture with GHC to serve industrial, consumer operations
Damco, the logistics unit of A.P. Moller-Maersk, formed a joint venture with General Holding Corporation to provide logistics and forwarding services to the Emirate of Abu Dhabi.
The joint venture, Damco Abu Dhabi, will improve supply chain efficiency for industrial and consumer goods businesses, the company said.
GHC is the largest industrial conglomerate in the United Arab Emirates. It has led the implementation of the Abu Dhabi government's industrial diversification policy.
The joint venture plans to set up offices in the airport, the world's 27th largest international cargo airport, and other key locations with substantial warehouse development. It will employ 40 people, Damco said.
"The supply chain joint venture with Damco is a key element in supporting the Abu Dhabi Vision 2030 and the long-term sustainable growth of the emirate by providing a competitive link to suppliers overseas and new export markets globally," said Suhail Mubarak Al-Ameri, director general of GHC.
Damco has more than 280 offices in 90 countries and representation in 120 countries.
