Cape Town box shop opens new truck entrance in next stage of expansion
Date:2011-09-08 Readers:

The Cape Town Container Terminal in South Africa opened its new truck entrance and staging area, an important part of the US$900 million, five-year expansion programme at the terminal, operated by Transnet Port Terminals.

"The new facility will be beneficial to harbour carriers and ultimately to the entire supply chain and allow terminal management to have improved control on traffic, especially as we approach our peak season," said Transnet's acting CEO Velile Dube, reported London's International Freighting Weekly.

The terminal's peak season falls between November and April when it handles larger volumes of refrigerated containers.
