MCC Transport, the Singapore-based intra-Asia unit of the Maersk group, will charter the 1,084-TEU Istrian Express for its maiden voyage southbound voyage on the Shanghai, Straits, Chittagong service (SH-1) and then a week later to join Straits, Vietnam, Hong Kong, Philippines service (IA-9).

    The Wujiazhui Shipyard, Nanjing-built vessel is the fifth in the Wujiazhui 1100 series for Dutch owner Vroon BV, with delivery one and a half years later than agreed, reported Paris-based Alphaliner.

    This follows an August delivery of the Svenborg Strait to the owner Carsten Rehder. Three further units are to be delivered, of which two to these shipowners and the third to Ernst Komrowsk.
