The Korean fashion industry is set for dramatic growth following a survey published by the Korea Fashion Association and the Korea Federation of Textile Industries.
This will result in corresponding demand for fashion logistics services according to Logwin, a global logistics operator with a strong focus in the fashion and lifestyle industry.
According to the survey, South Korea’s fashion market will reach more than US$30 billion in 2011, growth of 14.2 percent compared to 2010. The survey also forecast 30 percent growth in sportswear and outerwear for the same period.
“This growth is a result of Korean designers breaking through into markets all over the world,” said Marc Wijnen, Logwin’s director logistics, after Korean Fashion Week that was held on October 19-22.
“South Korea’s renaissance as a leading fashion hub for Asia Pacific has been dramatic,” he added.
The fashion and lifestyle sector has been driven by increasing globalization and the demand for logistics services has grown, particularly in emerging markets, Logwin has found.
“We see a dramatic increase in demand for warehousing and transport services within the emerging markets in Asia particularly for premium European and US fashion and lifestyle products,” said Wijnen.
“Also we see Asian premium brands expanding their sales outside of Asia in Europe, North America and the Middle East.”
