DHL has announced the launch of three new less than container load (LCL) services from China to Australia, Singapore and the United States.
"The new direct LCL services reduce transit time greatly, efficiently bringing wider business opportunities to China-based exporters and Chinese SMEs," adding the three new services "reduce CO2 emissions significantly", a company statement said.
Its new service from Ningbo to Sydney aims to attract cargo from Hangzhou, Wenzhou and Ningbo with a transit time of 14 days, which is one week quicker than the previously offered transit time.
The new LCL service from Shenzhen to Singapore offers a four-day-transit for customers in Shenzhen, Dongguan, Huizhou, Guangzhou, Foshan, Zhongshan and Zhuhai. The shorter distance and reduced facility handling are expected to make LCL shipments to Singapore more than nine per cent more CO2 efficient than standard shipments.
DHL has also launched an LCL service from Shanghai to Houston with a transit time of 19 days. From Houston, Chinese exporters can also reach New orleans, Dallas, El Paso, Brownsville, Denver and Oklahoma in the United States.
Steve Huang, CEO, DHL Global Forwarding, China, added: "The newly launched services, departing from China's main port cities of Shenzhen, Shanghai and Ningbo, reflect our continued confidence in China and commitment to customers, especially the small and medium enterprises, who are increasingly turning to ocean freight for greater cost efficiencies."
