PORT of Ningbo's box volume increased 10.2 per cent year on year in January to a new record of 1.39 million TEU, Xinhua reports. 

    During the seven-day Chinese New Year holiday, the port lifted 250,000 TEU, setting a new high of holiday output.

    A total of 1,356 container vessels called at Ningbo this month. The port handled 1.02 million TEU from ocean shipping lanes, and 106,000 TEU from domestic trade lanes, up 5.4 per cent.

    In the same month, Ningbo's "dry port" facility in hinterland regions handled a total of 16,681 TEU, 12 per cent more than a year ago.

        
    The port expanded its waterborne transshipment business since this year, and recorded a waterway transshipment volume of 232,000 TEU in January, up 30.1 per cent year on year.
