On the morning of July 13, 2011, an investigation and study group, consisting of representatives from Chongqing Survey & Design Institute, Chongqing Shipping Exchange and China Waterborne Transportation Institute of the Ministry of Transport, etc., visited Shanghai International Shipping Institute (SISI). Li Gang, Deputy Secretary-General of SISI, Zhou Dequan and Zhao Nan, analysts in Shipping Market Analysis Department, received the group.
Liu Jianguo, Director of Chongqing Survey & Design Institute, introduced the development of Chongqing Shipping Exchange and the purpose of this visit. Founded in August 2010 as approved by Chongqing Municipal People’s Government, the Exchange is a legal entity at the deputy departmental level directly under Chongqing Transport Commission. As a professional shipping trade service organization, Chongqing Shipping Exchange serves a primary purpose of promoting the overall shipping economy, expanding the ship trading market, developing shipping finance and comprehensive goods trading services, releasing shipping information, and enhancing exchanges among maritime personnel. According to Director Liu, the rapid construction and development of Shanghai International Shipping Center are of useful reference values to the building of Chongqing Shipping Center.
Li Gang, Deputy Secretary-General of SISI, outlined the development situation?experience and operating mode of SISI to the group. Both sides carried out in-depth exchanges regarding the construction of Shanghai International Shipping Center, the process and experience of Shanghai in developing shipping finance industry, the development of Shanghai shipping derivatives trading, the construction of Shanghai bonded port area, as well as pertinent policies put forward by Shanghai Government in an attempt to promote the construction of International Shipping Center, etc.
