Ningxia's railway cargo volume up 2.2pc in first three quarters

    NORTHWEST China's Ningxia Autonomous Region recorded a 2.2 per cent increase in railway freight volume to 34.6 million tonnes in the first nine months, reports Xinhua.

    Coal comprised the largest part of the volume at 27.2 million tonnes, 78.6 per cent of the total, growing eight per cent year on year. Oil shipments, however, fell by five per cent to 1.85 million tones.

    Some industrial products such as ore material, chemical fertiliser and chemical products saw major increases. Container cargo volumes grew 17.7 per cent year on year to 823,000 tonnes.
