Northern China opens steel logistics centre to cover 500,000 square metres

    A STEEL logistics facility has been built and commenced operations in northeast Changchun City, Xinhua reports.

    Located in the centre of Changchun Hi-tech Industry Development Area, the Changdongbei Steel Logistics Base entails an investment of CNY2 billion (US$315.1 million) and will eventually cover an area of 500,000 square metres when fully developed.

    It will have a freight yard of 300,000 square metres and a steel processing plant of 30,000 square meters with an annual steel handing volume of over four million tonnes. A 138,000-square-metre temporary freight yard is now operational.

    The facility will also provide other services such trading, exhibition, information and e-commerce.
