Imtech launches LBASE 5 Smart
Date:2011-04-12 Readers:

LBASE 5 Smart – a new hosted ‘Software as a Service’ (SaaS) solution, offering small and medium sized operations content and functions to manage mixed consignments, part loads and cargo traffic logistics operations without the need for their own server, has been launched in the UK by Imtech ICT Logistics Software.

Tailored to the needs of small and medium-sized logistics service providers, LBASE 5 Smart does not require any customisation as all essential procedures and business process are already defined. Predefined procedures and processes mean a short implementation phase, with the software ready for use in about ten days.

Specially designed screens allow orders and shipments to be entered quickly and simply, without requiring any extensive training. Components such as loading equipment and hazardous goods are also included along with interfaces for accounting and remote data transmission.

“LBASE 5 Smart incorporates all the required process steps in one system, from order entry to materials planning and billing, and financial management. It creates transparency while saving time, therefore ultimately reducing costs,” said Robert Schaeffer, Imtech’s head of development.

Imtech believes that growth in SaaS versions of Transport Management Software (TMS) and Warehouse Management Software (WMS) is likely to be stronger than traditional systems, as companies increasingly see how SaaS can deliver not only operational benefit but also advantages for their customers, such as gaining access to data in a controlled way.

While SMEs in low margin sectors benefit from SaaS, large operators are also looking for an on-demand TMS and WMS, particularly for low volume operations.
