SPRINGFIELD's airport executive director has called out to small and medium-sized businesses, such as manufactures and distributors, of the state capital of Illinois for feedback on business air cargo needs.
Abraham Lincoln Capital Airport needs to match up business opportunities with a manufacturer keen to supply chain costs to attract an air freight carrier, said Mark Hanna during the Greater Springfield Chamber of Commerce meeting, which now includes an air cargo operator on its board.
"They won't come in here and sit around and wait for business," he said, reported the State Journal-Register of Springfield, Illinois. "They're not going to deploy a multi-million dollar aircraft on a good idea."
The air freight needs could be quarterly or monthly rather than on a daily or weekly basis, he added, citing airports that have gained key accounts such as Peoria airport servicing FedEx and a large UPS facility, and Chicago Rockford's ranking in top 25 air cargo hubs through the handling of its main customer UPS.
