Lanzhou to build the largest railway logistics centre in northwest China

NORTHWESTERN China hinterland city Lanzhou plans to build the largest railway logistics centre in the region offering the broadest range of services, Xinhua reports.

After completion, the railway logistics centre's annual throughput capacity will rise to 17 million tonnes by 2015 and 25 million tonnes by 2020.

 The CNY2.11 billion (US$337.98 million) facility is the relocation and expansion of the old Lanzhou West Station freight yard for both container and bulk and outsized cargo, covering 166.67 hectares be ready to open in 18 months.

 Lanzhou Mayor Yuan Zhanting said the railway logistics centre will help to enhance Lanzhou's status in the national railway network and is important to the economic development in Gansu province and even the western China.
