DB Schenker boosts gateway capacity in Milan

SCHENKER Italiana SpA has expanded its capacity in the Milan area with the land transport gateway in Peschiera Borromeo set to open its new premises.
The new hub boasts 11,000 square metres of warehouse space equipped with the latest safety systems and technology such as hydraulic ramps on all 53 loading docks and 1,500 square metre of office space.
The gateway is to run more than 22,000 shipments a month including daily and weekly connections to and from major industrial centres across Europe as well as daily shuttles to branch offices in Italy.
"As of now, we offer our customers a real DB Schenker Village in Peschiera," said Schenker Italiana chief Lorenzo Papa. "The complex covers a total area of more than 73,000 square metres including three intra-communicating facilities to streamline handling for air and ocean freight and to the nearby logistics premises."
