Long Beach container count up 13% in March

The monthly container cargo count at the Port of Long Beach, California, increased 13 percent year-on-year in March to 422,774 TEUs, Platts Commodity News reported.

 

March is the fourth consecutive month of volume increases at the port, which serves Los Angeles and Southern California, in the year-to-year comparisons.

 

A total of 206,652 TEUs were imported through the Port of Long Beach in March, a 10.8 percent increase over March of last year, and exports were up 10.9 percent to 130,495 TEUs. Empty containers, mostly bound overseas for refilling, was up 22.3 percent to 85,627 TEUs.
