DHL has launched three new direct Less than Container Load (LCL) services connecting San Jose in Costa Rica, Tanjung Pelepas in Malaysia and Constanta in Romania from Hong Kong, China.
The weekly scheduled direct service shipments from Hong Kong to San Jose in Costa Rica now connects 24 terminals in North Asia Pacific and 25 in South Asia Pacific to the port in Central America, enabling Asian exporters to reach destinations in Costa Rica in reduced time.
With transit time between the two ports reduced to 36 days, the shorter distances and reduced facility handling make the new direct LCL shipments to Costa Rica more than 15 percent CO2 efficient than standard shipments.
The new weekly service between Hong Kong and Tanjung Pelepas in Malaysia offers a transit time of just five days between the two ports and enables CO2-savings of up to 21 percent.
When the Port of Tanjung Pelepas first opened in 1999 it set a world record for the fastest growing port and has continued the spectacular growth throughout recent years, thereby establishing itself as Malaysia's largest port.
