Secretary-General Zhen Hong presented the letters of appointment of director and deputy executive director to Professor Shmuel Yahalom and Professor Sha Mei respectively
As the appointed deputy executive director, Professor Sha Mei briefly introduced China-US Shipping Economic Institute. The Institute aims to promote timely and prompt communication and exchange on the experience, technology and methods accumulated during the construction and transformation of port, shipping and relevant fields in both countries. It also strives to provide a window for experts and scholars in the global shipping and logistics industry to communicate with each other and form a management model open to both countries. Based on this, a global information exchange platform can be built up for China and the U.S. in the field of shipping economy, which will become an influential and high-end platform for the dialogue within the international shipping community and for the training of high-end talents with international vision and domestic practice.
At the exchange meeting, Director Shmuel Yahalom of China-US Shipping Economic Institute delivered a keynote speech entitled “Global Economy Outlook and Its Impacts on the Shipping Industry” and received comments from participating experts and enterprise representatives. Jointly established by SISI and SUNY Maritime College, the China-US Shipping Economic Institute will become a development model for SISI’s internationalization drive and provide a platform for mutual exchange and dialogue, thus boosting the development of China-US shipping and logistics industry.
