KERRY Logistics has relocated its express command centre from the capital of Bangkok to the east of Thailand, within 20 kilometres of Laem Chabang deep sea port, owing to flooding in the Bangkok area.
The new centre is connected to Suvarnabhumi airport and within an hour's drive by highway. The company has also established distribution centres in Siracha, Chonburi, Chacheongsao and Rayong on the eastern seaboard and in Korat province in northeast Thailand, areas unaffected by the widespread flooding, in order to assist in the speedy distribution of cargo, a statement said.
"We have acted promptly to maintain supply chain integrity and maintain distribution flow for our customers and their suppliers. We focused on prioritising food and beverages, pharmaceuticals and medical, and life-saving equipment," said Kerry's Thai manager Alex Ng.
"However because of the flooding it is inevitable that delivery lead times will be longer than usual but we are fully operational for the duration of the flooding crisis," he added.
Other business units, including freight forwarding, Kerry Siam Seaport, and the Kerry Asia Road Transport, are providing support in managing the flow of urgent shipments into and out of flood-affected areas.
