THE International Federation of Freight Forwarders Associations (FIATA) and the International Air Transport Association (IATA) have said they have "amicably agreed to separate training to further shared objectives of providing increased industry solutions to international air cargo".

    A deluge of antitrust prosecutions against airlines and forwarders has resulted in strains over the past few years, reported the UK Shipping Guide in its account of the separation.

    FIATA said that under the terms of the new arrangement, IATA and FIATA have an agreement to enhance training programmes for forwarders, particularly in the area of dangerous goods.

    The two groups also said that through the still extant IATA-FIATA Consultative Council (IFCC), they will continue to collaborate and "offer independent training solutions".
