THE latest operating results posted by Air China show that its freight volume dropped by a substantial 28.5 per cent year on year and 23.8 per cent month on month to 73,300 tonnes in January, Xinhua reports.
Boosted by a surge of passenger traffic around Chinese New Year Holiday, volume increased 5.7 per cent year on year and 12.9 per cent month to month to 4.05 million people.
The carrier's cargo capacity fell 6.8 per cent year on year in January. Cargo turnover fell 25.9 per cent. Load factor dropped 12 percentage points to 46.8 per cent.
On the passenger side, capacity grew 6.6 per cent. Turnover increased 8.1 per cent. Load factor was up by 1.1 percentage points to 79.7 per cent. Capacity on domestic services increased 6.4 per cent. Domestic passenger turnover rose 8.4 per cent while the load factor increased by 1.5 percentage points. International service capacity climbed 5.8 per cent, while turnover went 6.4 per cent up and the load factor was up 0.4 percentage points. Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan service capacity jumped up 19.5 per cent while turnover surged 22 per cent.
The load factor was 1.6 percentage points more.
