Deutsche Post's DHL has invested US$9 million in its forwarding and supply chain operation in Pakistan, chiefly to upgrade its warehouses, fleet, offices, IT systems and training.

The announcement was made on the sidelines of the opening of DHL Global Forwarding Pakistan's new 15,000 square foot office building located in the main business district (PECHS), 12 kilometres from the airport and 15 from the Port of Karachi. The facility will accommodate more than 100 employees with room for expansion.

"DHL Global Forwarding in Pakistan has grown exponentially over the last few years and the $9 million investment reflects our continued confidence and commitment to the market," said Amadou Diallo, CEO, South Asia Pacific, of DHL Global Forwarding.

In addition to air and ocean freight services as well as supply chain services, DHL Global Forwarding Pakistan provides in-house customs brokerage, integrated domestic warehousing, inventory management and distribution as well as spare part logistics for the after sales markets, records management including archiving and retrieval. It has also established distribution centre hubs for global customers to service south Asian markets.
