On November 16, 2011, SISI-ESPR Seminar on Research Agenda is held at SISI Conference Center. The seminar is organized by Shanghai International Shipping Institute (SISI) and Erasmus Smart Port Rotterdam (ESPR), with an aim to further facilitating the cooperation between the two sides in research.
Tijn Folmer LLM, Chairman Supervisory Board Erasmus Smart Port Rotterdam Ltd. (ESPR Ltd), Prof. Dr. Harry Geerlings, Port Professor at the Faculty Social Sciences, Erasmus University Rotterdam (EUR), Dr. Bart Kuipers, Business Director Erasmus Smart Port Rotterdam (ESPR), and Ms. Sabine Hogewind, Deputy Director Corporate Strategy Port of Rotterdam, attended the meeting on behalf of ESPR, EUR and POR respectively. Mr. Yuan Ronggen, Vice Director of RCRO and Jenny Tu, Commercial Assistant of RCRO, accompanied the Rotterdam guests at the seminar.
Prof. Geerlings briefed the meeting on ESPR, which declared the opening of the seminar. Dr. Kuipers then introduced the current research agenda and future interested directions of ESPR. Prof. Zhang gave her presentation on the research program of SISI. The two sides then discussed issues of mutual interest based on the given presentations.
They have initially agreed to a visit by SISI to ESPR and POR in 2012. And their common research agenda may zoom in on the sustainability of ports and a comprehensive evaluation index system of international shipping center. Both sides believe that the seminar will constitute a good beginning for their future research cooperation.
