ZHONGSHAN Bonded Logistics Centre, under the jurisdiction of Guangdong province's Zhuhai city Gongbei customs, handled 274,000 tonnes of inbound and outbound trade cargo with a total value of US$3.43 billion. Its domestic cargo value tops all bonded logistics facilities in Guangdong at US$1.58 billion.

    A Zhongshan customs official said the bonded logistics centre has rolled out a series of measures including setting up exclusive counter for cargo from inside the facility and starting 24-hour clearance service to secure smooth operations. The logistics centre also has started to cooperate with the Port of Zhongshan on enhancing clearance efficiency of transshipments. Clearance time is now one to two hours shorter than before.

    The official said there are already eight logistics companies operating warehousing business inside the centre. The centre now has 789 company and factory customers in Guangdong, Shanghai, Jiangsu, Fujian, Hubei and Sichuan province in the field of electronics, textiles, toys and plastics.
