Hong Kong's Kerry Logistics has announced the expansion of container handling capacity at its Laem Chabang terminal in Thailand with the arrival of a third gantry crane.

The crane started work in April and has increased terminal lifting capacity to 85 from 65 moves an hour, said a company statement. The new crane is a key part in this," said Thailand director and general manager Kledchai Benja-athonsirikul.

Separately, Kerry Asia Road Transport (KART) plans to increase cross border business between Thailand and Vietnam by a third this year. KART's main customer for this door-to-door service is a leading beverage cans producer in Bangkok, transporting products 880 kilometres to Lao Bao, Vietnam, taking three days.
