FedEx Express, subsidiary of FedEx Corp., has announced agreements to purchase six additional Boeing 777 Freighters for its fleet.

The additional freighters will be deployed on routes between Asia and Europe.

The all-cargo airline said in a statement it will purchase four Boeing 777 Freighters directly from the US aircraft manufacturer and two from "additional sources."

Including this announcement, FedEx Express said it has agreed to purchase a total of 38 B777F aircraft. To date, FedEx Express has taken delivery of six B777Fs and four of them have already been introduced into service.

The Seattle Times cited Bob Dahl, the managing director of Seattle-based industry consultancy Air Cargo Management, as saying that other possible sellers of the two additional freighters include China Southern, which "parked its first two 777Fs in the Arizona desert due to the air cargo slowdown," the report said.
