FedEx gives US$1 million and transport aid to quake-hit Japan
Date:2011-03-29 Readers:

FEDEX has pledged to give US$1 million cash donation and in-kind transportation to support earthquake and tsunami relief efforts in Japan by supporting several agencies providing food, shelter, medical supplies, water purification units, blankets and hygiene kits.

The agencies FedEx will support the American Red Cross, the Salvation Army, Heart to Heart International, Direct Relief International, Water Missions International, The United Way Worldwide, World Vision, Project Hope and JEN (an NGO in Japan focused on reconstruction and other post-disaster assistance).

"We are saddened by the loss of lives and the destruction caused by the quake and the aftermath. The well-being in the communities we serve is FedEx disaster relief focus," said David Cunningham, president, FedEx Express Asia Pacific. "By working with our long-term humanitarian and relief organisations, we believe we will be able to channel our assets and resources more effectively, and complement the expertise of the different organisations."
