TNT and Con-way Freight open LA and Miami air hubs

Dutch express delivery giant TNT and San Francisco Bay area Con-way Freight are linking up to provide a day-definite door-to-door service for heavier shipments between the US and Europe based at Los Angeles Miami airports.

Previously, heavier shipments from 70 kilogrammes or 150 pounds had been handled through New York's JFK.

"Adding these new gateways will help us reduce transit times and better serve the needs of customers in the south east and south west," said TNT North American president Matt McDonough.

TNT operates Europe's largest road express network, with 414 depots in 39 European countries and its 767 200F aircraft from Liege, Belgium to JFK International Airport connecting the main hub in Europe to the US five days a week.

Con-way Freight operates more than 300 service centres throughout North America, and recently optimised its network to cut transit times by one day to more than 460 US destinations.
