HAMBURG Sud North America and Alianca have announced that they will revise their policies on the provisioning of chassis in the Baltimore region effective May 1.

    Thereafter, Hamburg Sud and Alianca will no longer provide chassis to shippers moving cargo with merchant's haulage through terminals and depots in the Baltimore area.

    Shippers, their agents or consignees will then be required to procure equipment directly from the Metro Chassis Pool, which the German container shipping line has been using, or from other chassis providers.

    Carrier provided intermodal moves will be unaffected by this change, a company statement said.
