Sinotrans has agreed to join China Global Logistic Network (CGLN), a division of Thai-based WCA Family of Logistics Network, with the goal of working only with other CGLN members worldwide.
Sinotrans has 200 offices and employs 24,000 staff. "Adding a company this large with its specific requirements to work with other CGLN members will create an enormous amount of work for WCA Family regional offices to find matching partners for Sinotrans," said a WCA Family statement.
CGLN president David Yokeum has worked several years with Sinotrans executives to bring this to fruition. CGLN will be listing 200 Sinotrans offices that are actively involved on a daily basis with various freight forwarding activities.
"The volumes of shipments will not magically appear - it will take lots of work over time to realise the full potential of this event and absorb how this event is beneficial to both Sinotrans Ltd and WCA Family members," said Mr Yokeum.
Sinotrans provides sea, air and road transportation, storage, terminal, express, shipping agency and freight forwarding services. The company owns self-operated terminals with a throughput capacity of 33.5 million tons, 98 vessels with an aggregate capacity of 353,142 tons, 56 container yards totalling 1,872,650 square metres, 335 warehouses of 1,677,618 square metres and six regional distribution centres. They also have a large fleet of vehicles and eight special railway lines.
