In the first eight months of 2009, operating profit of Deutsche Bahn fell nearly 50% to EUR 950mn (USD 1.40bn), reports Reuters. Turnover declined 14.5% to EUR 19bn. The figures are significantly lower than those budgeted.

Deutsche Bahn did not comment on the figures. The company targets an operating profit of EUR 1.8bn for 2009.
