The establishment of SISI College Students' Innovation Base serves not only as an integral part of the construction of SMU Innovation Base, but also as an attempt for SISI to be actively involved in SMU’s undergraduate education reform. Relying on SISI’s advantages as a platform closely linked with related industries, the Base will enable our current students to enjoy favorable research environment and access exchange opportunities. With great importance attached to this program, SISI will provide one-to-one academic tutoring for each student, as well as free seminars, information, data and other SISI’s resources according to the students’ own interest and research needs, so as to facilitate their research work and improve their abilities in data collection, independent thinking and interpersonal communication, etc.
Heads of Academic Affairs, Student Affairs, Youth League Committee, Transport College and other departments expressed full recognitions to the construction of SISI College Students’ Innovation Base. As an essential part of innovation-oriented education for college students and a new trial for innovation-oriented education models, the Base will exert demonstrative effects and can be combined with SMU’s existing innovation education programs, such as student social practice platforms, Challenge Cup and design competitions, so as to better promote the development of innovation-oriented education for college students of Shanghai Maritime University.
