On June 9, 2010, representatives of Antwerp/Flanders Port Training Center (subordinate to Antwerp Port Authority) visited Shanghai International Shipping Institute (SISI). Through friendly discussion on potential cooperation in the future, the two sides signed a letter of intent to formally establish the partnership.

Guests from Antwerp/Flanders Port Training Center included Chief Executive Officer Paul Verkoyen, Coordinator Ms. Suzy Segers and Mr. Liu Guojin, Expert in Asian Affairs. Participants from SISI were Deputy Secretary-General Li Gang, Office Director Zhang Jieshu and Director Luan Changqing of the Training Department.

Mr. Li Gang and Mr. Paul Verkoyen exchanged on respective development and expressed the intention of bilateral cooperation. At the meeting, the two sides reached a basic consensus to make relevant preparations for the joint training of port and shipping professionals, thus strengthening the traditional friendship between the two countries and enhancing mutual cooperation. Meanwhile, both sides will strengthen communication and cooperation in port management, operation and information technology so as to promote mutual development.
