Jointly organized by Shanghai International Shipping Institute (SISI) and Hannover Milano Fairs (Shanghai) Co., Ltd., operated by SISI Shipping Service Institute, and co-organized by Research Society of Shanghai International Financial Center, “2011 Forum on Innovative Shipping Logistics Service Modes” was held in Shanghai New International Expo Center on October 26. Around the theme of “Innovative Service Boosts Business Development”, all participants exchanged ideas on service mode, finance, insurance, logistics technology, talents training and other hot topics.

Li Gang, Secretary and Deputy Secretary-General of SISI expressed his congratulations to the convening of the Forum. He pointed out that SISI has been committed to establishing a sound communication platform for the industry, with an aim of promoting experience and technical exchanges in the spheres of port, shipping and logistics through a variety of forums, seminars and other activities, so as to facilitate uplifting the soft strength of Shanghai International Shipping Center.

Professor Gan Aiping, Deputy Director of SISI Shipping Finance Institute, made a keynote speech entitled “Economic Fluctuations of International Shipping and Development of China’s Shipping Finance (Insurance)”; Professor Wang Xuefeng, Director of International Shipping Department of Shanghai Maritime University and Deputy Director of SISI Shipping Service Institute, delivered a keynote speech entitled “Training for Inter-disciplinary Talents in Shipping Logistics”. By combining theories with practices, the wonderful speeches were well received by all participants.

The Forum invited scholars, experts, corporate managers and third-party service providers to explore and share visions on innovative RFID application and information sharing, e-escort system and logistics informatization, green logistics development, SME trade facilitation, shipping financing and leasing, and cargo transport risk management, etc. Upwards of 100 representatives from governments, enterprises and institutions, including Shipping Service Office of Shanghai Pudong New Area, Shanghai Customs Brokers Association, Ping An Insurance (Group) Company of China, Shanghai Maritime University, Jin Jiang Shipping, Norimc Logistics Co., Ltd., and S&W International Chemical Logistics Ltd attended the Forum.
