Shanghai International Shipping Institute held a seminar on maritime service and shipping finance on April 12th 2011. Overseas distinguished guests present at the seminar include Doug Barrrow, Chief Executive of Maritime London, David Matcham, Chief Executive of International Underwriting Association, Jason Page, Senior Underwriter at Markel International, and Eun-Soo Kim, Senior Researcher at Korea Maritime Institute, etc.

Distinguished guests from Britain briefed other guests on the focuses and functions of Maritime London and International Underwriting Association respectively. Mr Barrrow expressed his willingness to cooperate with Shanghai International Shipping Institute, and his good wishes were echoed by Zhen Hong, General Secretary of Shanghai International Shipping Institute.

The enlightening speeches given by overseas guests won wide acclaim from the audience, and were well received by several rounds of interactive discussions on issues concerning the present situation and latest development of maritime insurance and reinsurance, legal service, carbon trading and its influence upon maritime industry, and so on.

The roundtable discussion was also joined by officials from the Shanghai Finance Office, Shanghai Municipal Construction and Transportation Commission, and Shanghai Transportation and Port Management Bureau, andrepresentatives from major industry associations and players.
