On the afternoon of March 31, Prof. Chen Weijiong, Chief Librarian of Shanghai Maritime University (SMU), and Chen Xiangyan, Information Researcher of the Information Consultancy Department of SISI, delivered a joint lecture on "Resource Utilization and Information Services" at the Conference Center on the first floor of SISI. More than 30 people attended the lecture, including SISI Secretary-General Zhen Hong, Deputy Secretary-General Li Gang, and Office Director Zhang Jieshu, as well as all related teachers and postgraduates.

Chief Librarian Chen detailed the progress of SMU Library over the past five years in terms of resource procurement funding, paper resource amount and digital resource amount, Home Page visits, etc., as well as achievements in information services of shipping, logistics, maritime science and technology. He also illustrated with images and texts the library resource distribution in Lingang campus, and demonstrated the use of library website.

Then, based on the characteristics of SISI’s work and research projects, Information Researcher Chen Xiangyan highlighted the content and operation of relevant shipping databases, and described the approaches to look up relevant statistical data.

SISI staff exchanged views with Mr. Chen on resource utilization and information services, etc., and benefited a great deal from the wonderful lecture.
