Presided over by Liu Peng, Deputy Division Chief of the Economic Operation Division, the Forum on Working Mechanism for Water Transport Economic Operation Analysis was held by the Department of Water Transport under the Ministry of Transport on March 11, 2010. Participants came from China's five largest shipping and port enterprises including COSCO and China Shipping, as well as China Academy of Transportation Sciences, China Waterborne Transport Research Institute, Transport Planning and Research Institute under the Ministry of Transport, China Shipowners' Association, China Ports & Harbors Association, etc. SISI Secretary-General Prof. Zhen Hong and other experts attended the forum.
At the forum, Li Liangsheng, Deputy Director of the Department of Water Transport under the Ministry of Transport, pointed out that strengthening the analysis of water transport economic operation carries great weight for understanding the development of water transport and industry trends, offering forward-looking guidance to service enterprises, establishing information sharing platforms, enhancing research capacity, bringing all parties’ advantages into full play, and building professional teams, etc. Deputy Director Li put laid out explicit requirements for the organizational structure, report contents, work assignment, and methods of water transport economic operation analysis. All participants were awaken to the necessity and significance of the analysis, and promised great attention and efforts to network and platform building, information collection, exchange and cooperation, comprehensive analysis, organization and management, etc.
Secretary-General Zhen Hong said that SISI will spare no effort in offering shipping market prosperity indices, shipping market analysis reports, shipping reviews and shipping researches, so as to contribute to the analysis of water transport economic operation of the Ministry of Transport.
