Prof. Sergio Prete first introduced the history of Italian port system and source of maritime law. Second, he listed the tasks and responsibilities of port authority and port committee. His presentation on the concession of public land and docks in the port drew great attention from the audience. The port authority is in charge of port management while port operation is authorized to several port companies. As for the concession, there are specific application criteria and examination processes. Besides, port authority regularly reviews the implementation of the operational program and can revoke the authorization, without the right to any compensation, if the company didn’t respect the program.
