Increasing cross-straight trade at Xiamen port
Date:2012-10-22 Readers:

From January to August, cargo throughput at Xiamen port totaled 101 million tons, with a yearly growth of 6.9%. Among them, container throughput was 4.479 million TEUs and cargo throughput was 15.521 million tons in August, both hit a monthly new high. Relying on sea-rail transport, domestic sub-line transit and opening of “Quanzhou to Xiamen” and “Dongshan to Xiamen” sub-lines, Xiamen explores a huge market in China. Apart from domestic trade and container business, the increase of cross-strait trade is one of reasons for the stable growth of Xiamen port. In the first half of 2012, only Haitian terminal realized the container throughput of 127 thousand TEUs with a yearly growth of 12.8%.
