Shanghai International Shipping Institute (SISI), entrusted by the Legislative Affairs Office of the State Council, held a workshop to solicit opinions from relevant experts on the Maritime Traffic Safety Law of the People’s Republic of China (revision for review) in a conference room at SISI on May 30, 2014 entrusted by the Legislative Affairs Office of the State Council. SISI Secretary-General Zhen Hong and Deputy Secretary-General Zhang Jieshu attended the workshop, and experts from the Shanghai Maritime University were invited to provide instructions. The expert panel affirmed that the revision of Maritime Traffic Safety Law is both timely and necessary, and the revised version is more coordinated with other laws, featuring more specific provisions and better applicability. It also pointed out several problems, such as insufficient definition of certain terminologies, and disagreement on and unclear description of certain terms.
