Date:2011-04-28 Readers:

NEW ZEALAND's Commerce Commission has withdrawn charges against Cathay Pacific and Singapore Airlines Cargo for failing to supply information ahead of their court date involving allegations of air cargo price fixing.

The airlines now have supplied further information after the commission alleged that they had not fully complied with statutory notices, reported the Australian Associated Press.

The case alleging airlines colluded to raise the price of cargo have been made against Air New Zealand, Cathay Pacific, Emirates, Japan Airlines, Korean Air Lines, Malaysian Airlines System, Singapore Airlines Cargo and Singapore Airlines and well as Thai Airways International.

The first stage of the case will determine the issue of defining the market and it starts on May 11 and the rest of the case will begin in July 2012.

On April 5, the New Zealand High Court imposed penalties against British Airways and Cargolux. Cargolux was ordered to pay NZ$6 million (US$4.8 million) and BA NZ$1.6 million.
