Sam Linsen, officer of Netherlands Office for Science & Technology (NOST) and Jurrit Bergsma, assistant officer of NOST visited Shanghai International Shipping Institute on Oct. 30. They were warmly received by Prof. Zhen Hong, Secretary-General of SISI and Lu Weiling, Director of International Cooperation Department.
Prof. Zhen Hong first extended his warm welcome to the honorable guests. Sam Linsen expressed his heartfelt thanks to SISI for the warm reception. And then he gave general introduction about NOST-China including its goal and focus as well as its China network. After that, Jurrit Bergsma explained their intent of this visit which aimed at establishing or refreshing long term contact with highly esteemed maritime partners in China to set a joint and informed focus. He also discussed future activities in maritime sector for SISI and NOST in such fields as trade, infrastructure involving LNG bunkering and SmartPort 2.0 as well as tourism.
Prof. Zhen Hong presented a series of activities SISI undertakes in terms of shipping market analysis and research projects commissioned by government agencies and enterprises relating to shipping and port as well as international exchanges and collaboration. In particular, He mentioned the close relation SISI has been developing with Erasmus Smart Port Rotterdam (ESPR) and Rotterdam Port Authority. He expressed SISI’ s willingness to work hand in hand with NOST in the domains of SmartPort 2.0, inland shipping and cruise tourism.
Finally, led by Xu Kai, Director of Shipping Informatization Research Department, the two representatives of NOST toured around the Shipping and Port Big Data Laboratory.
