On the afternoon of January 28th, two researchers from Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences Abdel Makhloufi and Sander Onstein came to SISI. They currently are conducting a research project on the economic importance and logistics strength of airports and seaports to cities and regions. They are comparing different airports and seaports in different continents and regions in the world on their economic performance, spatial development, current and future developments, etc. Shanghai is chosen as the mainport in China for this project. They will visit Shanghai to start the empirical study by gathering information (data, reports, policy review, etc.) and to conduct interviews with experts and logistics companies related to Shanghai Pudong airport and seaport. Zhao Nan, Director of Port Research Department and Assistant of Secretary General, Xu Kai, Director of Shipping Informatization Research Department, Lu Weiling Director of Council Member Service Department and Xie Wenqing, analyst of Port Research Department warmly received Dutch guests. Abdel Makhloufi made a brief introduction of Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences and his ongoing research. Lu Weiling introduced SISI’s main business. Zhao Nan answered questions about Port of Shanghai of their interest while Xu Kai presented research results he got related to big data. Then both sides friendly discussed cooperation potential in the future in a good atmosphere.
