The Shanghai Maritime Safety Administration recently introduced a centralized ship inspection system based on smart technologies.
The system uses software to make a random pick of inspectors and ships to be examined. So far, more than 1,900 ships have been inspected by the new system and port efficiency has improved in Shanghai FTZ.
The system works with WeChat and connects with portable printers via bluetooth, Wi-Fi or NFC so that inspection documents can be printed on the ship to raise efficiency. It also gives ship captains an advance notice of a specific port for safety inspection before they arrive.
