Pudong New Area Party Secretary Shen Xiaoming visited Yangshan Free Trade Zone on Tuesday to learn about its development.

Shen was told that Yangshan Free Trade Zone focuses on exhibitions and trade of bonded commodities, bulk commodity trade, fresh agricultural products cold chain and imported agricultural products and international shipping service, relying on the preferential policies of the free trade zone and the comprehensive pilot zone of international shipping development.

On the Dazhitou Island, Shen inspected a land reclamation project north of Donghai Avenue. A land of 13 square kilometers is expected to be reclaimed from the sea. The Party secretary also learned about the construction of the fourth phase of a completely automatic wharf.

By the end of this June, a total of 1,943 enterprises had registered in Yangshan Free Trade Zone, including 887 shipping and logistics enterprises, 593 international trade enterprises and 348 financial service institutions, with 40,000 employees. In the first half of the year, Yangshan Free Trade Zone realized a total operating income of 127.8 billion yuan (US$19.25 billion), a year-on-year increase of 9 percent.

Yan Xu, deputy director of the China (Shanghai) Pilot Free Trade Zone Administration, also joined the visit.
