Officials from the Shaanxi provincial government visited the Xi’an Trade and Logistics Park on Feb 15, investigating the park’s progress in preparing to join the Shaanxi free trade zone (FTZ).

The China (Shaanxi) Pilot Free Trade Zone won central government approval on Aug 31, 2016.

Led by Liang Gui, deputy governor of Shaanxi province, the delegation visited the comprehensive service hall for the free trade zone in the park.

Liang affirmed the construction progress of the service hall after the visit. He also urged local departments to accelerate reforms of the administrative system to improve investment and trade services.

Apart from the comprehensive service hall, the logistics park is also carrying out the construction of a 4,000-square-meter administrative service center, which is scheduled to start operations before May.

During the visit, the delegation also investigated the park’s foreign goods processing center to gain a better understanding of the reform and innovation measures the park has installed in preparing to join the Shaanxi free trade zone (FTZ).

According to officials from the Xi’an International Trade and Logistics Park, staff members from the park have attended training sessions in Shanghai and Changchun to improve the customs clearance efficiency of the park. Official statistics show that more than 40,000 goods have been cleared by customs, almost 20 times as much as the same period last year.

Additional administrative systems have been reformed to improve the park’s cross-border processing abilities. Official statistics show the logistics park’s daily processing ability of cross-border goods has increased from 4,000 to 5,000 units.

Liang also hopes that staff members from the park can continue to communicate and learn from the experiences of FTZs in coastal areas.
