Pudong's Waigaoqiao Pharmaceutical Industry Park has large cold storage facilities which can handle 60 percent of all medicines, biological reagents and other temperature-sensitive products Shanghai imports.

After several years of development, the park now has over 50,000 square meters of refrigerated warehouses as well as offices and exhibition and conference facilities.

Pharmaceutical giants Cardinal Health, Sinopharm Group, Ortho Clinical Diagnostics, and Roche all have operations in the park, which is part of Shanghai Pilot Free Trade Zone.

Since Sinopharm Group was authorized to import medicines and clinical equipment in 2011, the park has become a trading hub for imports and exports of medicines with many companies offering business consulting, license application, lab testing, big data, staff training, logistics and financial services.
