The Yangshan Port Maritime Bureau teamed up with three other departments to conduct a joint inspection of a foreign-registered vessel in the port last week.

The three departments are Yangshan Port Customs, Yangshan Exit-Entry Inspection and Quarantine Administration, and Yangshan Immigration Station.

The joint inspection can save the ship crew a lot of time and energy and cut the ship's clearance procedure from three hours to just 45 minutes, the officials said.

The Shanghai Maritime Bureau will work with other municipal departments to promote the practice to other ports in the city.
