| China looks set to call US bluff over hard-line trade stance |

US President Donald Trump may be talking tough over ending Beijing's trade practices that protect China's economic interests, but Chinese officials say Mr Trump is bluffing.
Many experts in Beijing believe Washington is reluctant to pay the heavy economic price needed to upset prevailing trade dynamics between the two global economic powerhouses, reported Reuters.
Hanging over trade relations are several inquiries into whether steel and aluminum imports - including those from China - are harming US national security, possible tariffs on imported solar panels, as well as an investigation into potential Chinese abuse of intellectual property.
"I think this might be a threat to ask for deals from China," said senior fellow He Weiwen at the Centre for China and Globalisation, a government-affiliated research organisation in Beijing. |
