Inner Mongolia's Ceke customs checkpoint, on the westernmost Sino-Mongolian border, handled 2.14 million tonnes of trade cargo during the first three quarters of this year, a sharp growth of 139 per cent compared to the same period in 2009.
Import cargo soared 145 per cent to 2.13 million tonnes while exports plunged 52 per cent to 12,800 tonnes, according to Xinhua.
The checkpoint posted 189 per cent surge in its trade value to US$119 million during this period. Import value jumped 202 per cent to $106 million. Export value plunged 116 per cent to $13.24 million.
