ATLANTA area's United Parcel Service (UPS) is to build an express service centre in southwest China's Chongqing, which will be up and running at the end of the year, Xinhua reports.
This will be the 33rd of such a facility UPS has established in China. This one will serve the international delivery sector as it has yet to obtain a domestic licence, according to a SinoCast Daily Business Beat report.
UPS China president Daniel Brutt said the company will deploy four trucks at the new facility, ahead of implementing plans to build a domestics distribution centre in Chongqing.
UPS achieved a revenue of US$49.6 billion in 2010 and was named the biggest logistics operators in the world by Fortune magazine. In the first quarter of 2011, it posted revenues of US$12.58 billion and an operating profit of $1.4 billion.
