Liberty Global Logistics LLC will be making regular, monthly calls at the Port of Charleston’s Veterans Terminal. The American-flag ocean carrier, which specializes in general breakbulk and roll-on/roll-off cargo, began calling Charleston on inducement in April and has had six ships dock at Veterans Terminal to date.

“The Port of Charleston has proven experience and resources to handle any type of breakbulk or rolling stock,” said Mike Chapell, director of operations at Liberty Global Logistics. “The potential is great to grow Liberty’s core business here.”

Liberty has deployed three 6,100-car-unit vessels on the service. The next Charleston call will be that of the MV Prestige New York (Voyage 53) in October. The vessel will then proceed via Beaumont, Texas, to the Middle Eastern ports of Alexandria, Egypt; Salalah, Oman; Karachi, Pakistan; Mina Salman, Bahrain; Umm Qasr, Iraq; Ash Shuaiba, Kuwait; and Aqaba, Jordan. The westbound Voyage 54 will include a first-in call at Charleston, scheduled for Dec. 5, with subsequent U.S. calls in Florida and Texas. Liberty offers service to other ports on inducement.
